The research group "General Linguistics" concentrates on comparative research combining theoretical linguistics with empirical methods. We offer a productive research and teaching environment, the opportunity of further qualification, as well as a stimulating environment for collaboration both within linguistics and across disciplines.

Your Tasks
- linguistic research with a focus in theoretical and empirical research in (morpho) syntax and/or the interface of syntax and information structure, ideally with a focus on a non-Indo-European language; preparation of a project proposal (DFG, ERC or equivalent) to be hosted at Bielefeld University (65%)
- teaching of two courses per semester (4 LVS) within the linguistics programme (BA, MA) and other study programmes that include linguistic modules (25 %)
- participation in general administration and administration of linguistic programmes (10 %)

Your Profile
We expect
- relevant, sucessfully completed academic university degree (e. g. linguistics or philology with a visible linguistic profile)
- PhD degree in linguistics
- research profile in (morpho) syntax and/or their interfaces to information structure
- expertise in field work or other empirical methods
- excellent publication record
- very good written and spoken English
- teaching experience in BA and/or MA programmes
- strong ability to cooperate and work in a team
- independent, autonomous and committed way of working
- strong organisational and coordination skills
- high level of communication skills
- strong presentation and moderation skills
Preferred experience and skills
- experience in acquisition of third-party funding (contribution or independent)
- research in at least one non-Indo-European language
- knowledge of written and spoken German or willingness to learn German
